When my son and I went to our local SPCA to choose our cats, the person assisting us told us that they had been feeding them Hills Science Diet. We were already familiar with the brand, and felt that they had a good reputation for a quality pet food, and armed with this information we determined to continue feeding them Hills Science Diet.
The information on the bag states that they’ve helped well over 11 million pets find new homes through Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program and have a goal of reaching 15 million by 2025. Since 2002, Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love has provided over $295 million worth of Hill’s® pet foods to more than 1,000 animal shelters.
Their shelter partners provide free take-home bags of Hill’s Science Diet pet food, helping to ensure a smooth transition for the pets to their new home and starting them off on nutrition that’s a step ahead for their best life. And they have set up a New Pet Parent website, where owners can go to get their questions answered.
As we all know, these past several years have been brutal, in terms of disasters, both big and small. Hill’s Science Diet established the Hill’s Disaster Relief Network in 2013 as a direct extension of their Food, Shelter & Love program with a mission to speed nutritional support to pets in crisis. They partner with shelters, veterinary clinics, nonprofits and governmental organizations in all types of natural disasters, donating Hill’s pet food to help ensure that pets and shelter animals are well cared for during difficult times.
They have also stepped up to deal with the COVID-19 challenges affecting everyone. To date, Hill’s Disaster Relief Network has donated more than 490,000 pounds of food in the U.S. alone to combat this crisis. Hill’s has also helped out around the globe by providing pet food to isolated villages in Italy, under-resourced shelters in Brazil and a variety of other partners caring for pets and people in need.
Today we provide Hill’s food to multiple organizations that train dogs doing incredibly important work. A great example: They have maintained a 25-year relationship with KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc. in their home state of Kansas. They feed the KSDS pups training to serve people with disabilities and/or to assist professionals in fields like education, counseling, healthcare, retirement and law. These dogs are fed for their entire working lives, so the recipient doesn’t have to worry about that expense.
This post was not meant to be an advertisement for Hill’s Science Diet. But, this may be something you want to consider when selecting pet food.
Keep warm, and keep your animals warm, too.
